Miley’s First No. 1 in 13 Years Rests on 61,000 Units
Bass Persuades tops the Billboard 200 with 61,000 units, Miley’s first No. 1 since 2013, after a vinyl-heavy week that barely cleared two country albums.
Bass Persuades opened at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 61,000 equivalent album units, Miley’s first chart-topping album since Bangerz. Luminate logged the total for the week ending Sept. 24, on the chart dated Oct. 3. Album sales supplied 47,000 of those units, and 14,000 came from streams equal to 14.22 million on-demand plays.
The singer long billed as Miley Cyrus released this tenth studio album as Miley, on Atlantic. It is her sixth No. 1 and her 16th top 10, counting the Hannah Montana soundtracks.
A Thousand Units Separated the Top Three
The Oct. 3 list is a crush of round numbers. Ella Langley’s Dandelion holds at No. 2 with nearly 61,000 units, up 1 percent in its holdover week after leading the Sept. 19 chart with 67,000. Riley Green’s That’s Just Me debuts at No. 3 with 60,000, his first top 10 and his best week.
THE OCT. 3 BILLBOARD 200 TOP FIVE
| Rank | Album | Artist | Units |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Bass Persuades | Miley | 61,000 |
| 2 | Dandelion | Ella Langley | nearly 61,000 |
| 3 | That’s Just Me | Riley Green | 60,000 |
| 4 | I’m the Problem | Morgan Wallen | 58,000 |
| 5 | You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love | Olivia Rodrigo | 55,000 |
Wallen is steady at No. 4 with 58,000, up 1 percent. Rodrigo falls 3-5 with 55,000, down 8 percent. Noah Kahan’s The Great Divide slips to No. 6 with 46,000. beabadoobee’s Pylon starts at No. 7 with 35,000, her first top 10. Jhené Aiko’s Westside Whimsy, which led the Sept. 26 chart with 74,000, drops 1-8 with 35,000, down 53 percent.
No other 2026 No. 1 week has been published below 61,000 units. Megadeth’s self-titled album led the Feb. 7 chart with 73,000, the previous low until Langley’s 67,000. Aiko’s 74,000 sat on top seven days earlier. This is the third time in 2026 an act has waited at least ten years between No. 1s, after Bruno Mars with The Romantic on the March 14 chart, 13 years after Unorthodox Jukebox, and A$AP Rocky with Don’t Be Dumb on the Jan. 31 chart, a little more than ten years after At.Long.Last.A$AP.
How 47,000 Album Sales Won the Week
Bass Persuades also debuts at No. 1 on Top Album Sales. Track-equivalent albums were a negligible slice of the 61,000. The rest of the math is the week: she sold the record, and she did not stream it like a hit.
Green’s 60,000 units split the other way. Album sales were 29,000, his best sales week, good for No. 2 on Top Album Sales. Streaming-equivalent albums were 30,000, equal to 30.89 million on-demand streams of That’s Just Me, and 1,000 units came from track sales. He moved more than twice as many plays as Bass Persuades and still finished a thousand units behind.
WHO BOUGHT IT, WHO STREAMED IT
| Album | Album sales | On-demand streams | Total units |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bass Persuades | 47,000 | 14.22 million | 61,000 |
| That’s Just Me | 29,000 | 30.89 million | 60,000 |
beabadoobee’s 35,000 units include 25,000 sales and 10,000 streaming units, equal to 10.79 million plays. Even a first top 10 at No. 7 outsold Miley on a per-stream basis while selling fewer copies. The title track of Bass Persuades, released Sept. 3, debuted at No. 35 on the Hot 100 dated Sept. 19, her 24th top 40 hit. It led the album’s streams, ahead of Let’s Get Married, Different Religion, and Orbit, and it still left the LP 14.22 million plays short of a streaming week.
Something Beautiful, her ninth studio album, debuted and peaked at No. 4 on the June 14, 2025 chart with 44,000 units, including 27,000 sales and 17,000 streaming units equal to 22.18 million plays. Bass Persuades raised the sales column by 20,000 and cut the streams. The people who still buy plastic showed up. The people who only press play did not, at least not in the Flowers numbers.
Sixteen Vinyl Colors Did the Heavy Lifting
Luminate tied the sales week to a stack of configurations: 16 vinyl variants, one with a bonus track; nine CD versions, one with a bonus track; six download variants, most with bonus tracks; and a cassette. Green brought 13 vinyl and CD variants, two download editions, and a cassette of his own. beabadoobee arrived with 10 vinyl variants, including signed copies, plus three CDs, two cassettes, and a download. The top of this chart is a product aisle.
WHAT ATLANTIC PUT ON SHELVES
- Vinyl: Sixteen U.S. variants, among them Lipstick, Apple Red, Ruby Red, Neon Coral, Indigo, Baby Blue, Pomegranate, Merlot, Brick Red, Clear, White, a half-black half-orange splatter, and a Spotify Fans First bone pressing.
- CD: Nine versions, including pop-up editions and signed stock, with one bonus-track disc.
- Downloads: Six variants, including The Miley Edition with Smile, plus instrumental and a cappella editions she posted as limited-time add-ons.
- Cassette: One tape, still listed as an official store cassette edition.
The Target exclusive Lipstick vinyl adds the bonus track Smile and a 24-by-36 poster in an alternate gatefold. Collectors already treat the campaign as a full-time job, because each colorway is a separate purchase that counts as another sale. A merch roundup before release day ended with the collector admitting the pile had gotten expensive. That fatigue is the point of the strategy, and it worked.
Discogs has already logged 41 cataloged editions of the album worldwide, a larger set than the U.S. configurations Luminate used for the chart, because it folds in European pressings, Amazon exclusives, and the extra digital editions. Buyers arguing over whether a German Neon Coral came out pink instead of coral are doing unpaid work for a No. 1 week.
Bangerz Sold 270,000 Copies in a Week
Bangerz opened at No. 1 in October 2013 with 270,000 copies, per Nielsen SoundScan, in the last stretch of a sales-only Billboard 200. Equivalent album units arrived in late 2014, so that 270,000 and this 61,000 are not the same currency. The fair sales comparison is 270,000 copies against 47,000 album sales, about one-sixth the opening haul.
HER OPENING WEEKS, THEN AND NOW
| Album | Year | First week | Peak |
|---|---|---|---|
| Breakout | 2008 | 371,000 copies | No. 1 |
| Bangerz | 2013 | 270,000 copies | No. 1 |
| Can’t Be Tamed | 2010 | 102,000 copies | No. 3 |
| Something Beautiful | 2025 | 44,000 units | No. 4 |
| Bass Persuades | 2026 | 61,000 units | No. 1 |
Breakout remains her fattest debut, at 371,000 copies in 2008. Can’t Be Tamed started at No. 3 with 102,000 in 2010. Endless Summer Vacation, her 2023 Columbia set, peaked at No. 3 even after Flowers spent eight weeks at No. 1 on the Hot 100, the kind of single that used to drag a full album up the list. Something Beautiful then opened with 44,000 units, 27,000 of them sales, and stalled at No. 4. Bass Persuades finally returns her to No. 1 by selling more plastic than that last cycle, not by finding another Flowers.
A standard black vinyl with a poster still exists inside the rainbow. It is the boring SKU in a week that rewarded every other color first. The album itself is ten tracks of dance-pop and electronics, with Model/Actriz on Different Religion and the closing Remixx, Andrew Wyatt of Miike Snow on Neon Signs, and extra vocals from Wayne Coyne on Aftermath. Kid Harpoon and her fiancé Maxx Morando produced most of it. She announced the record on Sept. 1 and put it out on Sept. 18, the same day as the Let’s Get Married video, a 17-day sprint she described on Instagram as a record that happened fast.
This album happened fast but that’s been my life for 20 years. Once I started wishing to land a role that would make LA my home it’s been nonstop. This album is a reflection of everywhere I’ve been along the way and the peace that came with starting to slow it all down. Thank you for celebrating this release with me. It’s a special record and it’s bliss to share with you.

She Thanks Atlantic and Books the Bowl
Bass Persuades is her first album on Atlantic after Columbia. On Sept. 29 she posted that the No. 1 “transcends a win,” and she named the new label in the same breath as her team and her fans.
Bass Persuades being #1 transcends a win. This process has been some of the best times for me. Everyone involved made it possible and more importantly fun and memorable.
Thank you Atlantic, my team, and everyone who walks beside me with conviction. I love you.

The flop jokes arrived on the same post that printed 61,000, because 14.22 million streams against a country album that did 30.89 million invites them. The counter is sitting in the sales column. She bought the week with 16 vinyl variants and a cassette, and she still only cleared Green by 1,000 units and Langley by a rounding error. That is a real No. 1. It is also a small one.
She plays the Hollywood Bowl on Oct. 16 and Oct. 18, the first live dates of the era, a two-night stand in the city she said she wanted as home. The next Billboard 200, dated Oct. 10, will show whether those colorways still sell after the debut week, or whether this crown was a one-week merch run.
Frequently Asked Questions
How Many No. 1 Albums Does Miley Have?
Six, once the Hannah Montana soundtracks are counted with her solo work. She first led in 2006 with the Disney series soundtrack, then with Hannah Montana 2/Meet Miley Cyrus in 2007, Breakout in 2008, the Hannah Montana movie soundtrack in 2009, Bangerz in 2013, and Bass Persuades. Can’t Be Tamed is not in that set; it peaked at No. 3.
What Songs Are on Bass Persuades?
The standard album is ten tracks: Bass Persuades, Different Religion featuring Model/Actriz, Let’s Get Married, Orbit, Aftermath, REDLIGHTS, Neon Signs featuring Andrew Wyatt, Innocent Ways, Snow, and Bass Persuades Remixx, remixed by Model/Actriz. Several physical and digital editions add the bonus track Smile, which is the extra cut on the Target Lipstick LP.
How Does the Billboard 200 Count Album Units?
On the Oct. 3 chart, Luminate counted one unit as one album sale, or ten individual tracks sold from an album, or 1,000 paid on-demand streams, or 2,500 ad-supported on-demand streams of that album’s songs. Bass Persuades turned 14.22 million streams into 14,000 units under that mix, which is why a 47,000-sale week still needed the physical pile to reach 61,000.
Who Produced Bass Persuades With Miley?
She is credited as a producer on every track, with Kid Harpoon and Maxx Morando across most of the record and Michael Pollack, Monsters & Strangerz, Griff Clawson, and Model/Actriz on individual songs. Mark “Spike” Stent mixed several cuts, including the title track; Dave Fridmann mixed Let’s Get Married, Orbit, and Aftermath; Shawn Everett mixed REDLIGHTS and Snow. Randy Merrill mastered the album.
What Label Released Bass Persuades?
Atlantic Records, her first album for that Warner label. Columbia released Something Beautiful in 2025 and Endless Summer Vacation in 2023. Plastic Hearts, in 2020, was still on RCA, the home of Bangerz.
Luminate has closed the tracking week that put Bass Persuades at No. 1. The Hollywood Bowl dates on Oct. 16 and Oct. 18 are still in front of her, with the same ten songs and a merch table that already did the chart math.
