Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles, is standing firm after Kanye West took a disturbing and unexpected swipe at her grandchildren, Rumi and Sir Carter. Without directly naming him, the 71-year-old made it clear that she won’t be shaken by the drama, sharing a cryptic but powerful response on social media.
A Classy Response to a Vile Attack
Knowles took to Instagram on Wednesday, subtly addressing the chaos stirred up by West’s unprovoked rant on X, formerly known as Twitter. Alongside a lighthearted video of herself telling a “corny joke,” she wrote, “It’s hard to remain positive and classy in the face of ignorance and evil. But I know that no weapon formed against me or my family shall prosper.”
She didn’t stop there. “This battle is not mine, but the Lord’s, I know that God has got this,” she added, suggesting that she was letting a higher power handle the situation rather than engaging in a public back-and-forth.
West, 47, had targeted Rumi and Sir, both seven, in a bizarre post questioning their mental capacity. While he later deleted it, he was candid about his reasons. “I need everyone to know that I took the post about Jay Z and Beyoncé’s family down … because there was a possibility of my Twitter being cancelled,” he admitted.
Kanye West’s History of Grievances
West has a track record of lashing out at his former friends, and Jay-Z has been a frequent target in recent years. This latest attack appears to be fueled by long-standing resentment.
- He claimed he felt “slighted” when Jay-Z and Beyoncé skipped his 2014 wedding to Kim Kardashian.
- He was upset that Jay-Z backed Kendrick Lamar as the 2025 Super Bowl halftime performer instead of him.
- He accused Jay-Z and Beyoncé of failing to use their influence to support him during his custody battle with Kardashian.
West didn’t hold back. “S–t hurts, so f–k both of them cause when I needed them it was f–k me,” he posted, making it clear he sees the Carters as having turned their backs on him.
A Friendship in Tatters
There was a time when Jay-Z and West were inseparable. Their 2011 collaboration, Watch the Throne, was a cultural moment, and their bond seemed unbreakable. But things unraveled in 2016 when West called out Jay-Z for not checking in after Kardashian was robbed at gunpoint in Paris. That moment marked the beginning of the end of their once-close relationship.
Since then, West has repeatedly aired grievances against his former mentor. While Jay-Z has mostly kept quiet, West continues to make their falling-out a public spectacle.
West’s Latest Social Media Outburst
In the past week alone, West has been on a rampage, targeting multiple celebrities, including music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs. He accused Combs’ former girlfriend, Casandra “Cassie” Ventura, of “extorting” $30 million from him in a lawsuit alleging abuse.
He also threatened to “go to war” with Kardashian over their daughter North’s vocals being used in a song featuring Combs.
One thing is certain: West is making headlines for all the wrong reasons. And while his behavior has sparked backlash, Knowles’ decision to take the high road only solidifies her reputation as a protective matriarch who won’t let negativity shake her faith.
