Malaysia Partners with Dassault Systemes to Boost Automotive Innovation

Malaysia is stepping up its game in the automotive sector with a new partnership aimed at fostering digital innovation and enhancing professional skills. The Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Dassault Systemes and Feiran Technology. This collaboration is set to establish a centre of excellence focused on digital advancements and workforce development.

Establishing a Hub for Digital Excellence

MARii’s latest initiative marks a significant milestone in Malaysia’s drive towards becoming a leader in automotive technology. The centre of excellence will leverage the 3DExperience platform by Dassault Systemes, offering targeted training and certification programs designed to prepare the future workforce for the evolving demands of the industry.

“This centre will serve as a catalyst for nurturing a future-ready workforce, aligned with the National Automotive Policy 2020 and the New Industrial Master Plan 2030,” said Azul Reza Aziz, CEO of MARii. The facility will feature an automotive styling studio, a big data analytics centre, and a robotics centre. These components are strategically designed to tackle real-world industry challenges, promoting innovation and efficiency across the automotive value chain.

Comprehensive Training and Certification Programs

One of the key objectives of the MoU is to create the first Dassault Systemes training and certification centre within the new facility. This centre will provide comprehensive certification across various domains including product design, manufacturing, simulation, and collaborative operations. By doing so, it aims to upskill the local automotive workforce, enabling them to adopt the latest digital tools and methodologies.

Training Focus Areas

  • Product Design: Enhancing creative and technical skills for innovative automotive design.
  • Manufacturing: Streamlining production processes with advanced digital solutions.
  • Simulation: Utilizing simulation tools to improve product testing and development.
  • Collaborative Operations: Promoting teamwork and efficiency through digital collaboration platforms.

Samson Khaou, EVP for Asia Pacific at Dassault Systemes, highlighted the importance of this collaboration. “Developing digital talent will give Malaysia a competitive edge across the entire automotive value chain,” he said. The integration of virtual twin solutions powered by the 3DExperience platform is expected to revolutionize how automotive companies design, manufacture, and manage their products.

Focus on Key Technological Areas

The centre of excellence will house specialized facilities that address critical aspects of the automotive industry. Each sector within the centre is designed to focus on specific technological advancements and their applications.

Facility Purpose Key Features
Automotive Styling Studio Innovate vehicle design and aesthetics State-of-the-art design tools and software
Big Data Analytics Centre Analyze and interpret vast amounts of data Advanced data processing and visualization tools
Robotics Centre Develop and implement robotic solutions Cutting-edge robotics technology and automation tools

These facilities will not only support the development of new technologies but also provide hands-on training for professionals, ensuring that the workforce remains adept at utilizing the latest tools and techniques.

Strategic Partnerships and Future Growth

The collaboration between MARii, Dassault Systemes, and Feiran Technology is set to drive significant growth in Malaysia’s automotive sector. By combining expertise and resources, the partnership aims to create innovative solutions that address both local and global challenges.

“We seek to empower Malaysia’s automotive workforce through virtual twin solutions,” said Samson Khaou. This empowerment is crucial for maintaining Malaysia’s competitive edge in the rapidly evolving automotive market. The partnership also aligns with global trends towards electric vehicles and sustainability, ensuring that Malaysia remains at the forefront of these developments.

Long-Term Goals

  • Sustainability: Promoting eco-friendly practices and technologies in automotive manufacturing.
  • Innovation: Encouraging continuous innovation to stay ahead in the competitive market.
  • Collaboration: Fostering strong ties between industry, academia, and government to drive progress.

The establishment of this centre of excellence is a testament to Malaysia’s commitment to embracing digital transformation and preparing its workforce for the future. By investing in advanced technologies and professional development, Malaysia is setting the stage for a more innovative and resilient automotive industry.
