Zoë Kravitz has shared a story that blends Hollywood friendship, wildfire chaos, and an unexpected snake rescue — all set inside Taylor Swift’s $25 million Beverly Hills home.
A Safe Haven in the Middle of a Crisis
Earlier this year, wildfires tore through parts of California, forcing evacuations and displacing thousands. For Kravitz and her mother, Lisa Bonet, that meant finding somewhere safe to stay.
They found shelter thanks to Swift, who opened her sprawling 1930s-era Beverly Hills estate to them. “We ended up having to stay there for about two weeks,” Kravitz told Seth Meyers on his NBC show Tuesday.
And yes — they brought Orpheus, Bonet’s pet snake, along for the ride.
The Snake Incident That Nearly Changed Swift’s Bathroom Forever
The stay was peaceful — until it wasn’t. On their last day, while tidying up, Bonet was washing her face upstairs and briefly set Orpheus down. The snake found a small hole next to a built-in banquette in the bathroom and slithered right in.
Kravitz described searching for her mother before discovering her crouched in the corner, trying to pull the reptile out. The attempt backfired. The snake retreated further into the wall, turning a simple retrieval into a full-scale rescue mission.
Tile, Crowbars, and a Lot of Damage
With the snake unreachable, they called Swift’s house manager. He arrived with a crowbar, and soon they were tearing into the banquette, scratching walls, and ripping up tile.
It became a choice between leaving the snake hidden somewhere in Swift’s home or demolishing part of the bathroom. They chose the latter.
Kravitz admitted she told the house manager she would pay for all repairs — and asked that nothing be mentioned to Swift until it was fixed.
Of Course, Swift Already Knew
When Kravitz finally phoned Swift to confess, the pop star immediately interrupted: “Is it the fact that you almost lost a snake in my house and destroyed my bathroom?”
Turns out Swift had already been briefed. The moment ended with laughter rather than tension — a testament to their long-running friendship.
A Bond That’s Been Years in the Making
Kravitz and Swift have been close for over a decade. They collaborated on Swift’s 2022 album Midnights, with Kravitz co-writing “Karma” and “Lavender Haze” and providing backing vocals.
They’ve been spotted together in New York, attended mutual friends’ weddings, and even shared casual post-concert wine and burgers after Swift’s massive Eras tour shows.
This year, Kravitz attended Swift’s sold-out London concert, calling the spectacle “crazy” — though she quickly added she wasn’t surprised by her friend’s talent.
