Tom Brady didn’t forget. Nine months after Kevin Hart’s relentless roasting of the retired NFL star on Netflix, Brady got his chance for payback—live on the biggest stage of them all, the Super Bowl.
During Fox Sports’ 2025 Super Bowl broadcast on Sunday, Brady, 47, seized the opportunity to take a lighthearted shot at Hart, 45, who was in attendance for the Kansas City Chiefs-Philadelphia Eagles showdown.
Brady’s Quick Wit on Full Display
It happened in real-time. Brady, serving as a co-commentator alongside Kevin Burkhardt, casually asked, “Kevin Hart’s here?” before delivering the punchline.
“How do the cameras find Kevin Hart?” he quipped, a playful jab at the comedian’s well-documented 5-foot-5 height.
Burkhardt laughed it off, responding, “Well, it depends on the day, I guess.”
Brady made sure to keep things friendly, quickly adding, “Kevin, I love you. You took so many shots at me in May. I’m coming right back at you.”
Hart, who had torched Brady at The Roast of Tom Brady in May 2024, was officially on the receiving end this time.
Hart’s Brutal Roast Still Lingers
Brady’s joke wasn’t out of nowhere. It was payback for Hart’s savage jokes from the Netflix special, where the comedian didn’t hold back.
The Ride Along star took aim at Brady’s personal life, specifically his highly publicized divorce from Gisele Bündchen. The most cutting line of the night?
“You sometimes gotta f–k your coach. You know who else f–ked their coach? Gisele. She f–ked that karate man.”
That “karate man” reference was to Joaquim Valente, Bündchen’s jiu-jitsu instructor, with whom she’s been spotted frequently post-divorce.
Hart even doubled down, questioning Brady’s ability to see it coming: “One of the smartest quarterbacks ever played a game. How did you not see this coming? Eight f–king karate classes a day.”
Brady, known for keeping his cool, laughed along that night—but later admitted that some of the jokes stung.
Brady’s Roast Regret
After the Netflix special, Brady acknowledged that he may have miscalculated the impact of the roast.
Speaking on The Pivot podcast, the seven-time Super Bowl champion reflected on the unintended consequences.
“The bittersweet aspect of when you do something that you think is one way, and then all of a sudden you realize, ‘I wouldn’t do that again,’ because of the way that affected actually the people that I care about the most in the world.”
His three children—Jack, Benjamin, and Vivian—were reportedly less amused by the jokes about their family.
Hart, despite his brutal delivery, later said he understood why Brady might want to “protect” his family from public scrutiny.
No Response From Hart—Yet
So far, Hart hasn’t fired back. But given his history, it’s only a matter of time before he finds the right platform for a comeback.
On Sunday, the Philadelphia native was spotted enjoying the Eagles-Chiefs matchup from a suite at Caesars Superdome, seemingly unfazed by Brady’s comment.
One possible reason? His Eagles put on a dominant performance, giving him more to celebrate than worry about.
Brady’s Commentary Era Begins
Beyond the playful jabs, Brady’s transition to the broadcast booth has been smooth.
Sunday’s game marked his first time calling a Super Bowl, and the early reviews suggest he’s already settling into the role.
His former teammate, Rob Gronkowski, had full confidence in Brady’s ability to handle the job.
“He’s ready,” Gronkowski told Page Six ahead of the big game. “He’s always prepared. He’s the best at preparation. He’s the best at, you know, doing his best, and he’s just going to be ready.”
Brady proved Gronk right—not just with his game analysis, but with his comedic timing as well.
Hart may have won the Netflix roast, but Brady just got the last laugh at the Super Bowl.
