Lopez and Affleck Yank $68M Mansion off the Market after Divorce

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have officially taken their $68 million Los Angeles estate off the market after failing to find a buyer in a brutal high-end housing market. The couple, who finalized their divorce earlier this year, decided to pull the plug on the sale after more than a year of minimal interest, even after a significant price cut on the sprawling Beverly Hills mansion.

A Price Cut That Didn’t Work

The effort to sell the massive property began quietly in June 2024 with an off-market listing. When that failed to attract a buyer, the mansion went public in July. However, interest remained low.

The couple originally bought the estate for about $60 million and, after investing in upgrades, listed it for $68 million. By mid-2025, they slashed the price to $59.95 million, but still, no serious offers came in. “They lowered the price to get more interest and when this didn’t happen, they were advised to take it off the market,” a source told People magazine. The decision was reportedly a mutual business move.

Why the Luxury Market is so Tough

Selling a mega-mansion in Los Angeles right now is a major challenge, even for A-list celebrities. Real estate experts point to a slowdown at the very top of the market. An agent familiar with celebrity properties noted that homes listed for over $50 million are simply not moving quickly.

Several factors are contributing to the difficult climate for sellers:

  • Economic Uncertainty: While buyers in this price range often use cash, general economic worries are making even the ultra-wealthy more cautious with their spending.
  • Fewer Foreign Buyers: Interest from international buyers, particularly from China and Russia, has decreased significantly due to global tensions.
  • Too Much Inventory: There is a surplus of mega-mansions on the market, but not enough buyers ready to make a move, leading to low urgency.

A source close to the couple explained they were “hesitant to take a big loss,” which seemed inevitable if they kept dropping the price. Pulling the listing until market conditions improve was seen as the smartest financial decision.

Divorce Done, but Property Lingers

Lopez, 55, and Affleck, 52, finalized their divorce in January 2025, ending their two-year marriage. The couple had rekindled their famous early 2000s romance in 2021 and married the following year. While they have legally and physically moved on, this shared property remains a significant financial tie between them.

Since their separation, both stars have purchased new homes. Affleck bought a $20.5 million mansion in Pacific Palisades in July 2024, keeping him close to his children with ex-wife Jennifer Garner. Lopez purchased a more private $18 million home in another part of Los Angeles in March.

A Look inside the Unsold Estate

The Beverly Hills mansion is a massive property with luxurious features that, in a different market, would likely have been snatched up quickly. The holding costs alone, including taxes, staff, and maintenance, are estimated to be as high as $300,000 per month.

For now, the mansion will sit vacant. Neither Lopez nor Affleck is in financial trouble; both have successful careers with multiple streams of income. However, holding onto an unwanted, expensive property is not an ideal situation. An L.A. broker commented, “Even rich people don’t like letting money just sit there.” The property is currently seen as a liability rather than an asset. The couple will likely wait for a more seller-friendly market before attempting to list it again.
