A familiar face from the soap opera world is set to shake things up in Port Charles. Daniel Cosgrove, best known for his roles on All My Children and Days of Our Lives, has officially joined the cast of General Hospital. The veteran actor will make his debut on March 21, portraying the character Ezra Boyle.
A Soap Veteran Finds a New Home
Cosgrove has been a staple in daytime television for decades. His career began in the mid-’90s with The Guiding Light, where he played Bill Lewis. From there, he moved on to All My Children as Scott Chandler, followed by roles in As the World Turns and Days of Our Lives as Aiden Jennings. Now, after years away from soaps, he’s ready for another chapter.
“I took time off with the [actors’] strike,” Cosgrove shared. “I got a real job teaching acting and selling Jeeps, and I was kind of thinking I was out of the business. And then this just reignited something in me.”
Who Is Ezra Boyle?
Ezra Boyle is expected to be a significant addition to General Hospital. While details remain closely guarded, Cosgrove revealed that Ezra is deeply involved in the political landscape of Port Charles.
- A politician aligning with Drew Quartermaine (Cameron Mathison)
- Involved in behind-the-scenes “shenanigans”
- Interacts with Mayor Laura Collins (Genie Francis) and the Quartermaines
- Causes trouble for the town’s well-established figures
- Arrogant, full of himself, but undeniably intriguing
“I don’t want to sound corny, but each and every day is just a blessing,” Cosgrove said about his new role.
A Career Beyond Daytime TV
While Cosgrove is widely recognized for his soap opera work, his career spans across primetime television as well. He has appeared in hit shows like Beverly Hills, 90210, The Good Wife, The Blacklist, Law & Order: SVU, Blue Bloods, and The Equalizer. His versatility as an actor has made him a sought-after talent in both daytime and nighttime dramas.
What This Means for General Hospital
With Ezra Boyle entering the mix, General Hospital fans can expect political maneuvering, power plays, and possibly some unexpected alliances. His involvement with Drew Quartermaine and Mayor Collins hints at a storyline filled with drama, tension, and plenty of surprises. Cosgrove’s history with complex and layered characters suggests that Ezra will be more than just a passing figure in Port Charles.
