A Fresh Spin on Hanafuda
Hololive Holo’s Hanafuda is a contemporary reimagining of hanafuda, a classic Japanese card game that has been enjoyed for centuries. The game stands out by incorporating art featuring Hololive members, adding a distinct flair that appeals to fans of the popular virtual YouTuber group.
Players will be able to engage in matches using four different rule sets:
- Koi-Koi
- Oicho-Kabu
- Hana Awase
- Holo Awase (a brand-new mode exclusive to the game)
Holo Awase Mode Brings a Unique Twist
In Holo Awase mode, players will match cards featuring Hololive characters to complete “holo sets.” Completing these sets activates the characters’ special skills, which can swing the game in unexpected directions. The combination of strategy and character abilities adds a fresh dynamic to traditional hanafuda mechanics, making the game accessible to both newcomers and seasoned players alike.
Beyond the Card Table
While card matches are the game’s core experience, Hololive Holo’s Hanafuda introduces additional modes that expand gameplay variety. One such mode is Adventure Mode, which offers a story-driven experience featuring Hololive characters. This mode integrates hanafuda battles into a larger narrative, providing players with a different way to engage with their favorite virtual talents.
Additionally, a Bento Box Mode lets players prepare traditional Japanese lunch boxes alongside Hololive members. This lighthearted addition serves as a break from the competitive card matches and adds an extra layer of charm to the overall experience.
Anticipation Builds Ahead of Launch
With its blend of traditional card play, Hololive-themed artwork, and unique game modes, Hololive Holo’s Hanafuda is shaping up to be a notable release. The game’s mix of cultural homage and modern gaming elements is expected to attract both Hololive enthusiasts and those curious about hanafuda.
The digital edition will be available globally on July 31, with pricing set at 3,850 yen. Meanwhile, Japanese players looking for a physical copy will have the option to choose between the standard and limited editions.
